The Porsche 911 GT3 R is a high-performance racing car designed for GT3 series worldwide. The development of this racing car focused on efficient aerodynamics, enhanced safety, and reduced servicing and spare parts costs. The lightweight body design of the 911 GT3 RS, which features an intelligent aluminum-steel composite construction, serves as an ideal foundation for this near-production race car. The roof, front hood, fairing, wheel arches, doors, side and tail sections, rear lid, and interior trim are made from a particularly light carbon-fiber composite material (CFRP).

Engine and Transmission
Powering the new Porsche 911 GT3 R is a cutting-edge four-liter flat-six unit that is largely identical to the high-performance production engine found in the road-legal 911 GT3 RS. The engine features direct fuel injection operating at pressures up to 200 bar and variable valve timing adjustments for the intake and exhaust camshafts, ensuring particularly efficient fuel use. Compared to its predecessor, the normally-aspirated engine offers significantly better driveability and a broader usable rev range. The engine response is more precise due to six throttle butterflies. Power from the rear engine is transferred to the 310-mm-wide rear wheels via a Porsche sequential six-speed constant-mesh gearbox with an electronic shift actuator for particularly fast and precise gear changes. As in the GT road-going models, the driver changes gears via shift paddles conveniently positioned on the steering wheel. The clutch is electrohydraulically controlled, which eliminates the need for a clutch pedal and assists with quick race starts. The typical 911 weight distribution ensures excellent traction and braking performances.
